Mike Karpa is a gay San Francisco writer whose short work has appeared in Tin House, Foglifter, Faultline and other journals. His first novel, Criminals (Mumblers Press, 2021), was a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2022 (Indie) and his third, The Wealthy Whites of Williamsburg (Mumblers Press, 2023), won Best Gay Book at San Francisco Book Festival. He also translates Japanese to English and has published several book-length translations and until recently taught Japanese translation in the Master's programs at Kent State University and previously at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
