Laura Atkins is a children's book author, editor, and co-organizer of the Social Justice Children’s Book Fair and YouthLit at the Bay Area Book Festival. She has written several books for young readers, including the call-to-action Calling All Future Voters! with veteran voting rights activists, co-writing the award-winning Fred Korematsu Speaks Up with Stan Yogi and Biddy Mason Speaks Up with poet Arisa White. Her latest picture book, Bringing the Beach Home, reflects her passion for creativity, nature-connection and representation of neurodiverse and gender expansive young people. Laura worked at Children's Book Press and as an editor at Lee & Low Books. With an MA in Children's Literature from Roehampton University in London, and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, Laura lives in Berkeley. She is passionate about equity and true access to all voices in children’s publishing.
